A family home with a front garden

Twenty years of learning what customers want from a local service brand

Send Me a Pro is the first home services platform franchise. Here's how we got there.

  1. 1

It started as an MBA class project at the Kellogg School of Management, asking a simple question: why did in-home services have no trusted national brand? In 2007 we founded a concierge service in Washington DC connecting clients with vetted in-home personal trainers — always with the intention of adding more services over time. Fitness was where we started, not where we were going.

  2. 2

As we grew, clients kept asking us to send them someone for the next thing they needed. That told us something important: we weren't really in the fitness business. We were in the business of connecting clients with vetted pros. So we built our own proprietary technology — websites, mobile apps and CRM, custom-built and company-owned — and, by popular request, launched our first franchise, Send Me a Trainer. Most of the franchisees who joined did so because they saw the long-term vision of a platform for multiple services.

  3. 3

Then the demand came in, and it pointed clearly in one direction. Home services was a far bigger opportunity than in-home personal services, and within home services, handyman had the highest search volume of any category by a wide margin. We evolved on that evidence and launched Send Me a Pro: the first franchise system to aggregate multiple home services under one business model.

  4. 4

In 2026 we sharpened it further. Send Me a Pro is now a handyman-anchored home services business — Handyman + — with a simple promise to the homeowner: we fix, improve and maintain your home. Every franchisee opens as a handyman business and grows from there. Today there are 300+ territories awarded across five countries.

The full story, for those who want it

Twenty years, six chapters. Open any one.

In 2007, Bary El-Yacoubi was a personal trainer at a big-box gym in the Washington DC area. Within two months he'd sold the second-most training programs of any trainer on the company's east coast — and watched a lot of those clients cancel at the last minute. Stuck at work. Traffic. Life. They were serious about getting healthy; getting to the gym was the problem.

So Bary offered to come to them, and everything fell into place. At the same time, Muhssin El-Yacoubi was finishing his MBA at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern, specialising in entrepreneurship. He saw the momentum and wrote the business plan as a class project. Bounce Fitness was born.
